Countering fakes, propaganda, hacker attacks and fraud — the results of the work of cyberpolice since the introduction of martial law
For almost four months, the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine continues: the enemy uses the cyber front as one of the main directions for attacks on our country. Since the beginning of the war, cyberpolice have blocked more than 3,600 enemy resources.
One of the main vectors of the work of cyberpolice remains the fight against fraud on the Internet. Every day, law enforcement officers detect and prevent attempts by intruders to “make money” on the war. Thus, since the beginning of the imposition of martial law, the cyber police have exposed fraudulent activities of more than 500 people.
The most common fraud schemes on the Internet are pseudo-charity, offers to rent non-existent housing, fake passenger transportation and the sale of non-existent goods, in particular military ammunition. Phishing schemes or making fictitious documents that allegedly allow men of conscription age to cross the state border are also common.
A separate area of work of the cyber police is the fight against fakes and propaganda disseminated by pro-Kremlin sources or proxies of the “Russian Mira”. For this, a bot has been created in Telegram, where citizens send links to hostile channels, groups and profiles on social networks and messengers. Further, the channel StopRussiaChannel | MRIYA is used to block sabotage resources - detailed instructions on how to do this are covered here.
Since the beginning of martial law, it has been possible to block more than 3,600 enemy Internet resources with a total audience of more than 25.5 million users. Separately, 6780 publications that contained anti-Ukrainian content or justified the war were blocked.
Cyberpolice also search and identify collaborators and occupiers, prevent DDoS attacks on private and public sectors, prevent attacks by pro-Russian hacking groups, detect and record the facts of criminal activities of invaders. As part of international cooperation with representatives of law enforcement agencies and cryptocurrency exchanges, a set of measures is being carried out to detect and stop the movement of crypto assets used by occupiers to finance crimes.
We call on citizens to inform law enforcement officers about hostile actions, in particular through the cyber police bot “People's Avenger” — https://t.me/ukraine_avanger_bot. The functionality of the bot allows you to transmit information about the detected equipment or military occupiers, cases of looting, the location of unexploded shells, tags left by the enemy, henchmen of the occupiers or provide law enforcement access to private cameras of external video surveillance.
