There is always a risk of being affected by the actions of intruders during online shopping. Therefore, in order not to suffer from various schemes, payment security should be observed.

A fraudster under the guise of a buyer can act according to the following scenario: he looks for an advertisement for the sale of goods on the Internet site, calls or writes to the seller. Further, it is alleged that the buyer buys the goods. And he says that he made a purchase with the help of a delivery service. To receive funds, the seller needs to go to an individual link and specify the data of his card so that the seller can allegedly receive payment on the card.

The victim goes to the link, enters all the details of the card. The fraudster asks for the balance of funds on the card and the SMS code from the bank. And subsequently appropriates funds from accounts.

Cyberpolice explains - in order to mislead sellers, attackers create fraudulent sites that are visually similar to real sites of famous online trading platforms. On fake pages, there may also be a form of chat communication, which has nothing to do with the real support of the relevant service.

Police advise:

Discuss the details of the transaction exclusively in the chat of the trading platform or using its application.

Do not enter payment card details (CVV code, card expiration) on unfamiliar platforms and do not transfer the specified information to third parties in any other way.

Check the website of the online store for free on the service of the Cyber Police “STOP FRAUD” or on the service of the Association “EMA” CheckMyLink.

The scheme of fraud can be completely new or well hidden. So it is worth conducting your own check: read reviews about the seller and find out the history of the online store.
