They sold weapons through the Internet - the police of Kharkiv region stopped the illegal “business” of the defendants
A father and son set up a scheme for the sale of weapons and ammunition. To ensure that there were no failures and everything worked like clockwork, four more citizens were involved in criminal activity, who sent orders to “customers” throughout Ukraine by mail. Five arms dealers are in custody, and another is under house arrest.
Law enforcement officers established that a 47-year-old man organized an illegal “business”, and his closest assistants were his son and two acquaintances. At the same time, it was established that they stored weapons not only at home, but also equipped a warehouse on the outskirts of neighbors who have not lived in the house for a long time. In addition, the police established other criminal links of the defendants: two more attackers bought weapons from the organizers and prepared it for further resale.
Police documented that the men sold a large-caliber machine gun, more than one and a half thousand rounds of ammunition, AKMS-74 automatic rifles, anti-tank and subbarrel grenade launchers, F-1 grenades.
During the authorized searches in Dnipropetrovsk, Kiev regions, Kyiv and Poltava for the places of residence of intruders, in their cars and garage premises, law enforcement officers seized a huge arsenal of weapons and ammunition: a hand-held anti-tank flamethrower, machine guns, automatic weapons, grenade launchers, rifles with an optical sight, grenades, knives, rifles, knives, thousands of ammunition, components for weapons, as well as money obtained by criminal means.
All defendants were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. They were informed of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of up to seven years in prison. After carrying out all the necessary investigative measures, additional qualification of their actions is possible.
The court has already opted for preventive measures in the form of detention of five suspects, another accomplice will be under house arrest.
Police continue to carry out operational and investigative measures to establish the source of origin of the seized items and the circle of possible accomplices of the detainees.
