He appropriated almost UAH 32 million from the local budget: in Kyiv, the director of the ritual service was informed of suspicion
The suspect falsely hired 23 workers and charged them wages. Also suspected was a former employee who helped withdraw cash from bank cards of “employees”. For the appropriation of funds, they can face from 5 to 12 years in prison.
According to the investigation, during 2020-2023, the director of the ritual service of one of the local utilities falsely hired 23 employees. Together with his subordinates, the defendant entered the personal data of the “employees” into official documents, after which wages were illegally charged on issued bank cards.
With access to payment cards, the director transferred wages to controlled accounts or transferred them into cash. His accomplice, a former employee of a utility company, was responsible for withdrawing cash from bank cards. Under this scheme, those involved appropriated almost UAH 32 million.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the official was informed of the suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 191 (Appropriation, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of official position), to a woman — according to Part 5 of Article 27, Part 3, 4 and 5 of Article 191, Part 1 of Article 209 (legalization (laundering) of funds) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Thanks to the measures taken, compensation of UAH 16 million for damage caused has already been secured.
