Border guards prevented the illegal export of ancient paintings abroad
Soldiers of the Chop Detachment prevented an attempt to illegally transport paintings likely to be of historical or cultural value across the state border.
They were transported in his vehicle by a 35-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a resident of Transcarpathia. During the inspection of the minibus “Mercedes”, which was headed to the entrance to Ukraine, law enforcement officers found in the luggage compartment a batch of paintings of various genres: portraits, landscapes, still lifes, etc. The paintings were wrapped in cardboard packaging and were among the belongings of passengers. According to the driver, the paintings were asked to be transported as a transfer.
The find was seized by customs officers. Their cultural or historical value will be determined by experts.
