Border guards detain 7 evaders who were planning to flee to Romania by swimming and walking
During the course of the special operation “West-2023”, during the last day, the border guards of the Mukachevo detachment detained seven men of conscription age who tried to cross the border illegally.
Two offenders were detained by the border outfits of the border service department “Dilove” together with employees of the National Police during the inspection activities at the Rakhov railway station. Law enforcement officers found a wetsuit in one of the men who arrived in Transcarpathia from Khmelnytsky region. The man admitted that he planned to cross the river to reach Romania. Another detainee came from Kyiv region — also with the intention of illegally crossing the Ukrainian-Romanian border.
Five more men at a distance of 300 meters to the border were detained by the joint border outfit of the troops of the “Forks” department, the operational-search department and cadets of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Two residents of Dnipropetrovsk region and three residents of Ivano-Frankivsk region planned to enter Hungary outside the points.
