Border guards prevent Stradivari violin from being taken

At the ferry crossing point “Orlivka”, soldiers of the Izmail detachment together with customs officers discovered a violin, which is probably of cultural and historical value.
The 40-year-old driver of the Mercedes minibus transported it along with other things to Bulgaria, in his words, at the request of a friend. The musical instrument bears the marking “Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis Faciebat Anno 1742”.
According to the signs of the crime provided for in Art. 201 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Smuggling” border guards informed the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police. The violin has been removed for examination.
