Border guards found the canceled An-2 plane and smugglers who planned to move excisable goods across the border
35 km from the border with Moldova, border guards found a plane of smugglers and persons involved in trafficking.
Last night the operatives of the Chernivtsi detachment together with the employees of the territorial department of the SBI from the medical center. Chernivtsi, with the strong support of DOZOR special agents, found three citizens of Ukraine and one citizen of Moldova. Using the decommissioned and practically unfit for flight AN-2 aircraft, they were preparing to smuggle excisable goods across the state border.
The crime was prevented thanks to timely information from concerned citizens who reported the appearance of the plane near the Ukrainian-Moldovan state border.
In addition to the aircraft itself, auxiliary equipment and materials were found at the scene: GPS navigation aids, barrels of fuel and lubricants, lanterns to illuminate the improvised runway at night. Employees of the National Police carried out priority investigative measures.
