Border guards expose illegal evaders export scheme and seize contraband on magnets (VIDEO)
Operational units of the Chernivtsi border patrol do not stop systematic measures to identify and detain both those who wish to illegally cross the state border and persons who undertake to organize such a crossing.
According to the information obtained by border guards, criminal proceedings are constantly being opened, within the framework of which further work is carried out. Thus, the other day, during the control of the commission of a crime, a joint interdepartmental group consisting of border guards, representatives of the SBU and the National Police in Chernivtsi region stopped a passenger car in which local residents were - the organizer and co-organizer of illegal transportation of persons across the state border.
In a few minutes, during the pursuit, law enforcement officers stopped another car, on which the conductor brought to the state border four men of conscription age, residents of Chernivtsi and Chernihiv regions.
Some time later, on the outskirts of a neighboring settlement, border guards, together with representatives of the SBU, the National Police and the SBI, detained four more men, who were also taken to the border by a local resident in his own car.
In the course of further actions, law enforcement officers found out that the organizers promised the detained men for a monetary reward of 3000 to 7000 Euro to freely transfer them to Romania bypassing the checkpoints.
All detainees were taken to the border unit. Protocols on administrative offenses have been drawn up in relation to those who wish to leave Ukraine illegally. Organizers face criminal liability under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Also, the attempt of illegal movement of tobacco products across the border was exposed this morning by the soldiers of the “Palace Komarivka” branch of the Chopsky detachment.
At the railway checkpoint “Pavlovo” during the inspection of a freight train heading from Ukraine to Slovakia, a service dog trained to search for tobacco worked. So the border guards decided to check the rolling stock more carefully. As a result of inspection in the side cavities of one of the cars, law enforcement officers together with customs officers found 440 packs of tobacco products without excise tax stamps of Ukraine. Plastic packages with tobacco products were attached to the walls of the car with magnets.
Found cigarettes are handed over to the National Police, measures are underway to identify persons involved in smuggling activities.
In just one day, 108 thousand people and 20 thousand vehicles crossed the western borders of Ukraine with the EU and Moldova. 49 thousand people left Ukraine last day. 30 thousand of them crossed the border
with Poland, the rest followed to other EU countries and Moldova.
Over the past day, 59 thousand people followed Ukraine, 53 thousand of them are citizens of Ukraine. 10,000 more people followed the entrance than the exit
109 trucks with humanitarian aid were issued.
