Border guards trained and improved their skills in patrolling on small boats
Within three weeks, the border guards of several detachments mastered the independent management of the small boat, the purpose, arrangement and rules for the use of emergency and rescue property, methods and possibilities of fighting for the survivability of the boat.
One of the sections of the course that helps border guards determine coordinates and measure the movement parameters of surface sea targets is the basics of radar. The main tactical and technical data of various radar stations, their purpose and characteristics will be useful to the steering motorists-in-service activities.
Under the leadership of the small boat commander Roman Brusanovsky, the border guards mastered the management of the boats of the border service.
“When traveling on a deckless small border boat, all crew members must be dressed in life jackets. Border guards are obliged to have the technique of managing the boat in all weather conditions, and if necessary, to respond immediately to changes in the situation and carry out the instructions received. It is very important to master spatial thinking, which is necessary for orientation on water. Border guards should be able to “read” the surface situation, monitor the surrounding area in order to timely detect threats that prevent the free passage of the boat. Having an excellent trained eye sight, the steering will instantly determine the exact distance from the boat to the outlines of the terrain,” Roman notes.
At the end of the training program, border guards deftly and confidently put into practice the acquired skills of operating a small border boat at different times of the day, in all weather conditions and patrol areas, including the practice of search and rescue operations.
