“Border guards showed themselves at the highest level”, — President of Ukraine at a meeting at the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service (VIDEO)
President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky. The event was also attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko.
The head of state became acquainted with the changes in the work of the institution after the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. Rector, Major General Alexander Lutsky stressed that the academy has strengthened military training.
In a conversation with lyceists, cadets and teachers of the institution, Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that due to the war, the functions of the State Fiscal Service were significantly expanded. Border guards not only protect Ukrainian borders, but also master various types of equipment and perform combat tasks on the front lines. In particular, drone operators have shown an effective result at the front.
“The border guards showed themselves at the highest level. They performed all combat tasks absolutely bravely and professionally. The border service expands its skills through the war. Of course, when the war is over, all these skills will not go anywhere. And such a number of operators of REB systems and drones, all these specialists should stay and deal with the modern border of Ukraine in peacetime,” the President said.
Volodymyr Zelensky also examined the technique used by Ukrainian border guards today. These are armored vehicles, RSFs, artillery, drones, REB vehicles.
Since the beginning of the war, 9 consolidated detachments were created on the basis of the academy, which performed combat tasks in the area of Kiev, Gostomel, Bucha, Moshchun, as well as on the eastern border of our country.
For their courage and heroism 234 servicemen of the Academy were awarded state awards, 10 graduates received the title Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the Golden Star, 7 of them posthumously.
