Border guards continue to detect and detain border violators: the situation over the past day
Border guards daily detect offenders who are trying to illegally flee the country or carry out smuggling.
Thus, the border outfit of the Krasnoilsk department of the Chernivtsi detachment detained 5 smugglers who brought almost 15 thousand packs of cigarettes to Romania.
The border outfit found a group of individuals with large packages near the border line. Noticing the border guards, the violators threw their cargo and tried to escape. During a brief pursuit, the response team, firing warning shots upwards, detained three men who did not want to stop. Subsequently, the troops of the detachment detained two more violators, who, taking advantage of the darkness, tried to hide.
All detainees and tobacco products were delivered to the border unit. During the calculation of smoking, it was found that five local residents tried to move more than 14700 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps to a neighboring country. Cigarettes for a total amount of about 665 thousand hryvnias were withdrawn in accordance with the established procedure.
Also the other day, the border guards of the Chopsky detachment interfered with the illegal intentions of 14 people who tried to cross the state border outside the checkpoints. Of these, thirteen went as part of groups, and one tried to cross to Slovakia on their own.
Two such groups were detained during inspection activities on the outskirts of the settlement of Onokovtsy, Uzhgorod district. Three Khmelnitsky residents and four Lviv residents acted in accordance with the “advice” received from social networks. They reached the border by public transport, and then they had to settle at one of the hostels closer to the state border. From there, carry out the so-called “reconnaissance” and choose the optimal route. However, their illegal travels were stopped by the border outfit of the Uzhgorod department. So the “journey” of all seven ended at the temporary holding point of the Chopin detachment.
The other four, residents of Kharkiv region, Donetsk region and Zaporizhzhia, received “recommendations”, how and where to cross the border, from acquaintances from Uzhgorod. Border guards found offenders a few hundred meters from the border with Slovakia, on the outskirts of the regional center.
Two more, a Dnieper and a Cherkasy, were detained on the outskirts of the settlement of Sil. The men made a route using online maps, bought tourist equipment and even invented a legend in case of arrest by law enforcement. They tried to convince the border guards that they came to Transcarpathia to buy a car, but they failed to deceive the soldiers.
The last of the detainees, a thirty-year-old resident of Kryvyi Rih, was detained by a joint outfit of the State Fiscal Service and the National Police. The man said that at first he counted on the help of a businessman who promised to transport him across the border. When he realized that they were trying to deceive him, he began to look for a route on his own, but he was detained by law enforcement officers. All offenders arrested in administrative order and brought to administrative responsibility for attempting to illegally cross the state border are detained. Their cases will be heard by the court.
In just one day, on September 8, 81 thousand people and 19 thousand vehicles crossed the western borders of Ukraine with the EU and Moldova. 44 thousand people left Ukraine last day. 26 thousand of them crossed the border with Poland, the rest followed to other EU countries and Moldova. Over the past day, 37 thousand people followed Ukraine, 33 thousand of them are citizens of Ukraine.
