The border guard won “gold” at the international Fencing Satellite FIE series tournament
Border guard Alina Polozyuk won gold for the first time in her career at the international Fencing Satellite FIE series tournament.
The competition took place in Istanbul on 22-23 October. According to the results of the competition, athletes gain points towards the ranking for obtaining a ticket to the next Olympic Games in Paris.
Alina started the performance in a group with four wins and two defeats. Therefore, she received the 22nd seed number. So without much difficulty, she went through the first two fights in the straight elimination round.
First, the Ukrainian woman won with the hostess of the competition Rui Gokkan (15:7), and then - from the representative of Thailand Scheyanuthat Shinnakerdchok (15:8). Already in the 1/8th final Polozyuk with a one-shot advantage defeated Uzbek Umid Ilosova. The fight ended with a score of 15:14 in favor of Alina.
Despite two tough fights on the way to the final, in the decisive battle Polozyuk won confidently. In a confrontation with the seeding leader Italian Marta Cammilletti, the Ukrainian rapist missed only six shots - 15:6 - and won the debut gold on the “satellites”.
