Border Agency Improves Conditions of Detention and Residence of Offenders in Departmental Places of Non-Freedom
In the face of the constant attempts of illegal migrants to illegally cross the border of Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic, the border agency continues to take measures aimed at respecting human rights and ensuring the basic needs of detained border violators.
On February 10, within the framework of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere from representatives of the National Committee of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service received charitable assistance for the needs of detained illegal migrants.
Thus, in order to provide places of deprivation of liberty and improve the conditions of stay of detained persons during the time necessary to determine the legality of the grounds for further stay on the territory of our state, sanitary and hygienic personal protective equipment, warm blankets, linen, antiseptics and disinfectants worth more than 300 thousand were received. Recall that the State Border Guard Service is empowered to detain detainees at the state border in specially designated departmental places of freedom. Currently, there are almost 60 such places, in which more than 1,7 thousand offenders were detained in 2021 alone, of which 1,6 thousand are foreigners.
