Representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on the Integration of Ukraine into the EU visited the Ukrainian-Polish border
In the framework of an away meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on the Integration of Ukraine into the European Union, representatives of the Committee and the Consultative Mission of the European Union on Reforming the Civil Security Sector of Ukraine visited the border with Poland.
The delegation got acquainted with the work of the crossing point “Yagodin” in the Volyn region and “Ugriniv”, “Krakivets” and “Shehyny” in Lviv region. Participants discussed the issue of capacity and infrastructure of border crossings.
Representatives of the State Border Guard Service familiarized visitors with the peculiarities of border control at checkpoints, the procedure for using technical means. In addition, they were informed about ways to improve control procedures and intensify transit operations, as well as the possibility of joint control on the Ukrainian-Polish border.
The participants of the visit were told about the experimental project of the electronic queue, which was introduced in “Yagodin”. Particular attention was paid to the reasons for the blocking by Polish carriers of the Dorogusk checkpoint and the measures taken at the government level to relieve tension on both sides of the border.
“It is important that we held this meeting with representatives of the central executive and local governments, as well as our European partners after our working trip to the checkpoints. On the basis of the results of the joint visit with the ECHR and the outbound meeting of the Committee in Lviv, we will prepare official recommendations for the central and regional authorities on what can be decided at the legislative, executive level and in close cooperation between the Ukrainian and Polish governments with the involvement of the European Commission,” the President noted Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Integration of Ukraine into the EU.
