Law enforcement officers handed over suspicion to a deputy of the City Council for the unauthorized seizure of a land plot in the center of Uzhgorod
The firm of the suspect voluntarily occupied 139 sq. meters of land belonging to the community of the city, and under the guise of reconstruction carried out its own construction on it. Operatives of the Directorate of Strategic Investigations in the Transcarpathian region, together with the investigators of the Uzhgorod Regional Police Department and in cooperation with the USBU, exposed the scheme of seizure of property of the community of the city of Uzhgorod.
In accordance with the developed work project, the company under the control of the official carried out work on the reconstruction of the public restroom under the building of a coffee shop with a shop. During the investigation, it was established that the area of the foundation under the new building is more than 200 sq. meters, while according to the project documentation it should not exceed 64 square meters. The fact of unauthorized seizure of land, which caused significant damage to the local community, was confirmed by the conducted land and technical examination.
On November 23, on the basis of the collected evidence, the deputy of the City Council was informed of the suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 197-1 (Unauthorized occupation of land and unauthorized construction) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of a fine from one thousand to four thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or arrest for up to six months, or restriction of liberty for up to three years.
Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out under the procedural guidance of the Uzhgorod District Prosecutor's Office.
