Law enforcement officers have already started 80,500 proceedings on the facts of property crimes, - Igor Klymenko
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on the air of a single tele-marathon stressed that during the martial law, all property crimes are considered as looting and the punishment for them has been increased.
“Loot during martial law is a property crime - like theft, robbery and robbery. The term of imprisonment for theft is increased to 5-8 years. There are 80,500 proceedings for such crimes,” Igor Klymenko said.
He also added that more such crimes will be recorded in the future.
“People return to the de-occupied territories, to their homes, they see looted houses. Therefore, this work will continue and the number of such crimes will increase,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
Regarding other crimes, Igor Klymenko stressed that the criminogenic situation in Ukraine remains manageable:
“The burden on some police units has increased by 80% since the beginning of the war. Some of the police work in the liberated territories, the load is crazy, but today we have not lost control over the criminogenic situation in the country.”
