“We work as efficiently as possible!” Forests of Slobozhanshchyna are not welcome to the occupiers
Ukrainian defenders constantly have to counter attempts to infiltrate sabotage groups of Russian occupiers in Kharkiv region.
Kharkiv is surrounded by an area covered with forests, tiers, swampy rivers. In some places, they could previously go unnoticed almost to the center of some districts of Kharkov and surrounding cities. Today, the guards turn this minus of the defense system into a plus, keeping under control not only the main transport arteries, but also forest roads that no one paid attention to before.
“This is a post of day and night observation. We observe the road and the forest, also at night in the sky, so that drones do not fly unnoticed, we report on the situation, we make sure that foreign cars and persons do not penetrate, we constantly strengthen the borders of defense,” said the guard “Cross”.
The forest, of course, disguises well, but it also creates an insidious illusion of security. Meanwhile, there are a lot of its nuances: limited overview of the area, the danger of fires. Damaged trees also bring us back to reality. Some of them are cut to pieces, as if by a huge sickle, others are broken like cheesecakes. That is why the guards must always be on the alert.
“We are ready to repel the attack. Our division is mixed. Mobilized, contract and contract workers serve. All are determined. We are ready to repel the attack of the enemy, to stop its advance on the approaches to Kharkov,” explains guard Vitaly.
“These are our prisoners. They are made up of thick logs. These are strong underground fortifications. We carry out combat tasks to protect the military town and maintain the boundaries of defense fixed to us. The main positions were built quickly, they were done in about a week — there was no other choice. Usually, in the dungeons there is a shift resting,” says guard Stanislav.
Before the army, he worked as a television operator. At the moment, his “army” resort was delayed - Working as a teleoperator brought me endurance. It happened that for days he worked without rest: from shooting to shooting, you only have time to replace the flash drives and the journalists changed. He worked at the studio “Misto”, on the Poltava TV channel “Central”. He studied at the Faculty of Journalism at the University. So far, he has served nineteen months. Of course, I want to go home, but we need more here!”
Meanwhile, the defenders of the Kharkiv region have the ability to counter not only sabotage groups, but also larger, in particular mechanized units of the enemy.
“I focus our weapons on the terrain. I give the coordinates of the target. All this, at the moment, I do with the help of an artillery bead - this is such a very sensitive and accurate compass (here not 360 units, but 6000), - says the guard “Step”.
By February 24, he had lived in the Czech Republic for several years, worked in a factory, was responsible for the quality of products. When the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation began, he urgently took his family away, and he himself went to the National Guard of Ukraine. He explains his choice of specialization and callsign by the fact that he loves to travel very much.
“I spent a month studying. Who and what will be specialized - it was all decided voluntarily. I agreed because I have a good understanding of maps and smartphones. We have specialized programs that help us point to the goal, makes calculations. I am here because it is my home, my country. It doesn't matter that I lived in another state. I myself am from Kharkov, I understand that this is my duty as a citizen of Ukraine. We will work as efficiently as possible and destroy the enemy.”
The guards are making every effort to strengthen the perimeter of the defense of Kharkov and the cities of Kharkiv region. At the same time, they closely interact with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Territorial Defense and other security agencies.
