The other day for the employees of the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Rivne region, volunteers of the NGO “Life Saving Center” conducted a training on providing first aid, which was a good start to the 7th Global Road Safety Week.

“It is important for everyone to hold such trainings, because we do not know what event we will witness. Moreover, each of us has relatives and relatives who may also need our help. If you go through such trainings, then at least a person will already know in advance what needs to be done and can react correctly to the situation that has occurred, because sometimes witnesses of the event, by providing assistance before the ambulance arrives, can give the victim a chance to live,” says Bohdan Fostiak, volunteer of NGO “Life Saving Center”.

Personal safety and calling for help were talked about during the training. They were trained to diagnose the condition of the victim, perform compression on the chest and artificial ventilation of the lungs. In addition, employees of service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Rivne region have mastered the skills of using an automatic external defibrillator and how to treat an unconscious victim and transfer him to a stable position. Considered the tactics of providing assistance with complete or partial obstruction of the respiratory tract. Also talked about critical bleeding and methods to stop them. They practiced giving first aid to themselves with bleeding.

“This training gives an understanding of what first aid is, what must be done primarily for the person you are saving. And the most important thing is to help so as not to harm a person. This knowledge will be useful not only in certain emergency situations, for example, during traffic accidents, but also in everyday life. And in general, we must be prepared for the challenges of today, because we do not know what can await us tomorrow and who will need our support,” says Kateryna Demina, administrator of the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moscow. Sarny.

These skills need constant improvement, so we will continue to practice and deepen the knowledge gained. After all, it is not known when the acquired skills may be needed to save lives, and the right actions are to give a chance to wait for doctors who need time to reach the patient.

“We are responsible not only for our safety, but also for the safety of those around us. And here it is not necessary to talk about a large-scale disaster, it is elementary — some of the visitors of the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs became angry, and our employees will already know how to properly provide medical care before the arrival of the ambulance. Also during traffic accidents, high-quality assistance to the victim is provided - a life saved. I am not saying that in the country war and mastering the elementary skills of first aid should be in the first place for each of us, because timely and high-quality first aid can save the life of the wounded. And in the conditions of war it is priceless,” said the deputy head of the regional service center of the GSC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Rivne region Viktor Zaliubovsky.
