Returned to duty after being wounded: the story of a National Guard health instructor (VIDEO)
Sanoinstructor of the special purpose battalion “Donbas” of the 15th Slavic Regiment Panda spoke about how she got to the front and how it changed her life.
Panda by profession — hairdresser, businesswoman from Dnipropetrovsk region. He has two adult sons — military men. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, she decided to stand in defense of the Motherland and join the ranks of “Hospitallers” as a paramedic. Currently, Panda is a sanatorium instructor, she provides assistance to fighters in the hot area of Kremina.
“I have been a paramedic in a volunteer unit for a long time. When the enemy began the invasion, I immediately joined this unit. But then my friend told me that his unit lacked medical personnel, and that's why I ended up in the 15th Slavic regiment,” Panda shares.
In April 2022, Elena became a sanatorium instructor in a combat unit, and almost every day she works on the front line. The first combat experience was received in the Luhansk region.
The work of a sanitary instructor is difficult and dangerous. The panda received a severe shrapnel damage while rescuing a wounded soldier.
“We received a call about the injured man. We had to evacuate. We were fired at by mortars, a Russian mine exploded very close to the car. I, along with the driver, were injured. My paramedic skills allowed me to help him. I saved his life, and he later married me,” says Panda and immediately adds. “We got married already in the hospital. I came to him in a wheelchair in intensive care. He told me that I saved his life. Then I joked that now, as a decent man, he should marry me. Mom, granddaughters, daughters-in-law are waiting for us at home. Of course, I could have quit the service after being injured, but I decided that my work here was not finished yet.”
Currently, almost the entire Panda family stands in defense of Ukraine. Her husband plans to return to combat operations after recovery, the younger son is the commander of the detachment, and the eldest son serves as a gunner. Both are fighting in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
