More than 80% of citizens' appeals to the cyber police are about fraud — Yuriy Vychodets
The head of the Cyber Police Department told about the main rules for protecting money on bank cards, as well as about exposing Internet fraudsters, on the air of the Unified News tele-marathon. He stressed that the more citizens comply with the rules of cyber hygiene, the less opportunities for fraudsters to earn money.
“The most popular schemes of attackers are the sale of non-existent goods, telephone fraud and phishing. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, schemes of pseudo-evacuation transportation from the regions where the fighting takes place, as well as the rental of non-existent housing, have been added. We also expose schemes of pseudo-voluntary collection of money”, - said Yuriy Vychodets.
The head of the cyber police recommended that citizens first of all transfer money to charity only to verified persons or official foundations. “Always pay attention to the content of the volunteer page, the date of upload of materials, the number of followers, most public figures have verified profiles in social networks, this is also worth paying attention to,” he stressed.
To protect money in bank accounts, Yuriy Vychodets urged citizens not to disclose bank card data to third parties, not to follow dubious hyperlinks, and to choose only verified services for buying and selling.
