More than 20 tons of raw materials and equipment for the manufacture of “criminal” cigarettes have been removed from illegal circulation
Operation “Excise” is ongoing, which is currently being carried out by the National Police in accordance with the order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky. The main goal of such training is to stop illegal trade without paying taxes in the markets of fuel and tobacco products.
As an example of the effectiveness of such work of the police, we can cite the successful operation carried out during the last two days in the Chernihiv region. There, operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the SSR NPU together with the investigators of the Poltava Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office and the force support of the Poltava Police Service, implemented the materials of the proceedings on the grounds of criminal offenses provided for in Part 2 of Art. 199, Part 3 of Art.. 204 KKU. As a result, it was possible to stop the activities of the underground workshop for the illegal manufacture of tobacco products and to remove about 20 tons of tobacco mixture. Also evidence of the activities of shop workers was equipment for the illegal manufacture of tobacco products, funds in the amount of more than 40 thousand euros received from criminal transactions and two cars used by dealers to transport the so-called “goods”.
The total cost of the seized tobacco and equipment for the corresponding underground production reaches more than UAH 8 million.
Currently, priority investigative (search) actions are underway, aimed at identifying and documenting all participants in the criminal scheme. In court, the issue of arrest on the seized property is resolved.
