Police Colonel Serhiy Naumenko: Despite his injuries, he continued to perform combat missions and conduct unmanned reconnaissance
Since February 24, 2022, the policeman is in the ranks of the defenders and still defends our country from the Russian invaders. Thanks to the coordination of his team's work in the sky and on the water and successful cooperation with other defense forces, the law enforcement officer managed to expose all enemy locations on the approaches to Kiev in time and successfully destroy it. The professional actions of the defenders preserved the capital, which remained under the Ukrainian flag.
Serhiy Naumenko heads the Department of Aviation and Water Police of the National Police of Ukraine, and before the war his unit provided various measures for aeromedical evacuation. Now the service is responsible for a number of areas of aviation security, one of which is the use of helicopters, in accordance with combat orders to assist the wounded, transport of fighters, organs, etc.
“We train police officers with basic skills and skills for their direct application in the widest directions on the line of contact with the enemy — from air reconnaissance to ground combat support. We also teach how to inflict damage on the enemy with the help of a number of different technologies, equipment and the use of various related devices,” the law enforcement officer tells about unmanned aviation and the complexes associated with it.
However, from the first days of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the police colonel in the UAV group, together with the soldiers of the Armed Forces and other policemen, carried out tasks to identify enemy forces and equipment and places of their deployment. Sergey Naumenko has repeatedly successfully made adjustments to artillery systems in order to destroy military equipment of the armed formations of the Russian Federation and conducted other ground operations to destroy the forces of the aggressor country.
“Since the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on our land, I have been carrying out combat missions with my group in different regions of our country. The first battles began in the Kiev region, where enemy forces and equipment and their locations were detected. After the de-occupation of the Kiev region, they moved to the Luhansk direction, where they performed combat tasks in the cities of Rubizhne, Severodonetsk, Lysychansk. Subsequently, they were involved in operations in Kharkiv region — in Balaklea, Izyum, Kupiansk. After further redeployment, our direction was Maryanka, and in recent months we have been defending the Bakhmut direction with our brothers,” the police colonel added.
During the performance of official duties, a law enforcement officer was wounded. This happened on April 10 in the village of Rubezhnoe, Luhansk region. The policeman came under artillery fire from the armed forces of the Russian Federation. However, despite his injuries, he continued to perform combat missions and conduct unmanned reconnaissance.
By the Decree of the President of Ukraine for personal courage and selfless actions in defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the oath, Police Colonel Serhiy Naumenko was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree.
