According to the head of the department of the organization for the investigation of crimes committed in the conditions of armed conflict, the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Christina Podyriako, in 2014 a terrorist organization was created on the territory of Donetsk region - the so-called banana republic “dnr”, and it was not included legal “Ministry of State Immunity” “DPR” and “Kalinin Correctional Colony No. 27". That is, punitive bodies whose goal was the destruction of Ukrainians.

“Illegal arrests and abductions of people, torture and detention in inhumane conditions are the features of their terrorist activities for non-recognition of the so-called “Donetsk People's Republic” and cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities. In order to force them to confess to espionage and other far-fetched “crimes”, prisoners were buried alive, simulated their execution, threatened with torture and murder of close relatives, wives, children,” said the deputy head of the department for the investigation of crimes committed under the conditions of arms of the conflict, the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine Dmytro Shevchuk.

Here are just a few excerpts from the interrogations of the victims of the hands of terrorists:
- “I was tied to a metal pole face down, while wearing electric wires on my fingers and toes, through which, periodically, for several hours, they supplied current and poured water, beat with rubber sticks on my feet”; - “inflicted blows with the butt and legs, pierced the leg and bladder.
Then they were taken to the pigsty, where they were left without shoes for the night, resulting in frostbite of the feet...”;
“When we reread all these shows, we had one single desire: to establish all these nonhumans and bring them to justice. Not only in Ukrainian, but also in international courts,” says Christina Podyriako. The difficulty of establishing the defendants was that during torture
, they usually hid their faces, never addressed each other by name only — by call letters. Because of this, those affected often could not even recognize them.”

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, law enforcement agencies have investigated more than 1000 criminal proceedings on the facts of torture and mistreatment of civilians and prisoners of war. In addition to Russians, Ukrainian citizens who organized and supported illegal paramilitary activities joined the ranks of these penal bodies, in addition
to Russians. formations, as well as committed criminal offenses against the life and health, honor and dignity of citizens. These are traitors who remained in the temporarily occupied territory and crossed over to the side of the enemy.

“The list of atrocities that terrorists subjected Ukrainians to is shocking. This is electric torture, systematic beatings, violent acts of a sexual nature, burning of the skin, gunshot wounds to arms and legs, cutting teeth, pulling out nails, cutting genitals... And all this was accompanied by psychological pressure,” said Dmitry Shevchuk. The prisoners had a huge amount of information about the criminal actions of the executioners, but literally by the crumbs they collected information that could help in the identification of these criminals from the so-called “Ministry of State Immunity” “DPR” and “Kalinin Correctional Colony No. 27”.

Despite this, the investigators, together with the operatives of the Department for the Protection of Public Interest and the State, managed to identify 17 people who abused Ukrainians. Among them are representatives of the local crime scene and former law enforcement officers.

All defendants are suspected of treason, participation in a terrorist organization and mistreatment of civilians and prisoners of war. They face up to 15 years in prison.

In the video there are stories of Ukrainians who survived the torture of illegal armed formations.
