Transcarpathian police seized a large batch of contraband equipment
So, while serving at the checkpoint, located in the village of Uzhok, employees of the Bolshoi Berezny police department stopped to check the truck, which was heading to the exit from the region.
The vehicle was branded as a service car of one of the well-known delivery services in Ukraine.
In the luggage compartment, the driver transported dozens of tightly packed boxes and provided a waybill for inspection. This document raised doubts among the police about its veracity, because it had obvious signs of forgery.
The police decided to inspect the cargo, during which a large batch of expensive contraband equipment was found in the packages. We are talking about more than 4 thousand new phones, watches, headsets, laptops and other equipment belonging to companies with world recognition.
According to experts, the amount of seized products is more than 65 million hryvnias, or about 1 million 700 thousand US dollars.
According to operational information, when importing this product from abroad, no duties were paid to the state budget of Ukraine. Thus, it can be assumed that the state suffered financial losses of approximately 13 million hryvnias.
All products have now been removed. The investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Velikobereznia Department of the Uzhgorod District Prosecutor's Office, entered information on this fact into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations with Legal Qualification Part 4 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In the case, measures are underway to establish all persons involved in this scheme. The investigation continues.
