Kyiv Police Detain Attacker Who Killed Brother's Wife and Staged Robbery
During a feast, a Kiev resident shot his daughter-in-law. In order to avoid criminal liability, he threw his weapons, made a mess in the house, and gave false testimony to law enforcement officers. The next 15 years a man can spend behind bars.
The other day, a man called the police and reported that unknown people had killed his wife in his house. The investigative and operational team of the Darnitsky Police Department, criminal investigation officers and dog handlers went to the scene.
The head of the Darnytsky Police Department Oleg Hudyma said that upon arrival at the specified address, law enforcement officers found in the house of two brothers and the body of a 35-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head:
“We interviewed relatives, examined the scene and found out that at the time of the incident the applicant was on the second floor of the house. According to the applicant's brother, two men broke into the property and began to demand money. In search of valuables, strangers made a mess and, leaving the scene of the crime, shot the daughter-in-law. We began to work on this version of the event, but it did not find its confirmation. As it turned out, during a feast, a drunk Kiev resident shot a relative in the head during a demonstration of a loaded hunting weapon, as a result of which she immediately died. In order to hide the murder and divert suspicion, the defendant staged a robbery in the house - scattered things in the house and invented details of the event for his brother and the police.”
The police, with the help of analysts of the capital's head, also established that the defendant threw the weapon into the lake. Investigators re-interviewed the man, as a result of which he admitted that there was no attack by unknown people, and he committed a serious crime.
“With the involvement of the SNS staff, we found the weapon and sent it for examination. The suspect, born in 1984, was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine,” Oleg Hudyma noted.
Investigators under the procedural leadership of the Darnytsky District Prosecutor's Office informed him of the suspicion of committing the crime provided for in Part 1 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — premeditated murder. The court chose a preventive measure for the detainee — detention. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
