Police arrest intruder who doused cashier with gasoline and tried to set fire to bank
In the city of Pogrebische, Vinnytsia region, a man came to a bank branch with a demand to return the funds, which, in his opinion, disappeared from his account due to the fault of employees. The attacker took out a bottle with a flammable substance and poured it on a bank employee. Police officers, who arrived at the premises in 2 minutes, detained the offender. On the fact of hooliganism, investigators began criminal proceedings.
On August 5, around 11.30, a message was received from an employee of the bank branch of the city of Pohrebysche, Vinnytsia district, that an unknown person broke into the premises and, holding a bottle with an unknown liquid in his hands, threatened the employees with arson.
The man spilled the substance in the premises of the bank and on the employee of the financial institution, after which he took out a lighter and set the floor on fire.
According to the head of the regional police chief Ivan Ishchenko, the crew of the police activity sector of the police department № 4 of the Vinnytsia regional administration arrived at the scene in two minutes. During his detention, a 32-year-old resident of Pohrebyshche doused the police with a flammable substance and tried to light a lighter.
Law enforcement officers prevented the man from carrying out the plot and detained him. Fortunately, the fire was extinguished in time, none of the people were injured.
According to this fact, the investigators began a pre-trial investigation on the grounds of the crime provided for in Part 4 of Art. 296 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For such an offense, punishment is provided in the form of imprisonment for up to seven years.
Priority investigative actions continue. The issue of placing the detainee in a temporary detention facility is resolved.
