Police detained the briber of a lawyer — a deputy of the Kherson Regional Council
The funds received as ill-gotten benefits, the defendant hid in an office space, putting them in a sleeping bag.
According to law enforcement officials, the lawyer — a deputy of the Kherson district council — promised citizens for a certain remuneration to influence the judges of the district court when they make decisions in administrative cases.
On June 19, operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations and Terrain Management in the Odessa region of the National Police of Ukraine, together with NABU detectives and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, detained the defendant after receiving $2,000 of illegal benefits. He carefully hid the funds in the office space, putting them in a sleeping bag.
The lawyer was informed of the suspicion under part 2 of article 15, part 4 of article 27, part 3 of article. 369 (Offer, promise or provision of unlawful benefits to an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The involvement of court employees in a criminal offense is also checked.
