Police officers together with the USBU seized evidence of criminal activity from a clergyman who promoted “Russian measure”

Investigators of the police of Vinnytsia region, with the prompt support of employees of the Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Vinnytsia region, conducted searches of the clergyman of one of the religious parishes. The man is suspected of inciting religious enmity.

According to the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Vinnytsia Oblast Ivan Ishchenko, some representatives of the religious parish carried out activities aimed at inciting religious enmity and promoting “Russian measure”. During searches of places of residence and religious buildings, law enforcement officers seized printed materials with the appeal of the President of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Patriarch to the citizens of Ukraine about the recognition of quasi-republics “LNR/DNR”.

On this fact, the investigators carry out a pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Art. 161 (Violation of equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, regional affiliation, religious beliefs, disability and on other grounds) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For such actions, up to 5 years in prison is provided.

The removed evidence is sent to examinations, according to the results of which the actions of the defendants will be given the final legal qualification. Police officers identify persons involved in illegal activities. Procedural management is carried out by the regional prosecutor's office.
