Police blocked the international drug smuggling channel: about half a million dollars worth of cocaine seized
The defendants are two residents of the Kyiv region who imported cocaine from the Czech Republic into Ukraine, disguised in a hidden shell in a car. They sold the drug in bulk batches during personal meetings with trusted persons only for cash. Their monthly profit from such activities reached 450 thousand US dollars.
In international cooperation with law enforcement agencies of the European Union, it was established that a 32-year-old resident of the city. Brovary, together with a local resident, was engaged in the sale of wholesale batches of cocaine on the territory of Ukraine among the trusted circle of persons.
The defendants established a supply channel to Ukraine of the drug from the Czech Republic. The man directly performed the function of a carrier and courier: he personally traveled abroad for the “goods”, which he transported through customs in a car, hiding in a pre-prepared toilet - luggage compartment, battery compartment.
Prohibited substances were stored in the woman's rented apartment, where she packed the goods and later handed over to an accomplice for sale. The attackers transferred the drug “from hand to hand” to clients from the criminal circle, and the calculation was carried out only for cash. Such a “business” brought them about 450 thousand US dollars in profit every month.
As a result of the training, law enforcement officers, with the strong support of the soldiers of the TOR special unit, detained a man when he tried to sell a kilogram of cocaine. During the authorized searches in the car and the residence of the defendants, briquettes with cocaine with a total weight of about three kilograms were found. All the recovered items were sent to the appropriate expert research.
The estimated cost of the seized drug at “black” market prices is about half a million US dollars.
The dealer was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators have already informed him of the suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues in particularly large quantities) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The Svyatoshinsky District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure for the suspect — detention without the right to make bail. For his actions, he faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
