Police officers handed over seized engines for tanks and BMPs to the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Law enforcement officers received information about the storage of military goods in one of the warehouses. It was about engines for armored cars and tanks, including the T-72. In order to carry out a comprehensive check, the investigators of the National Police initiated criminal proceedings.
During the inspection, the information was confirmed, it turned out that the “owners” planned to sell this property at inflated prices to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Law enforcement officers conducted a search. 80 engines for tanks, including T-72, and other equipment for military equipment were withdrawn. The “owners” reported that the property was allegedly acquired in 1998. However, during further investigation, their version regarding its origin was not confirmed. Thus, the engines and other equipment were seized and transferred to the state enterprise for responsible storage.
The cost of the withdrawn engines is more than 23 million hryvnias. Instead, the speedsters planned to sell it to the state for more than 77 million.
After receiving expert opinions, the National Police of Ukraine initiated the procedure of forcible alienation of the seized property in favor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine so that it could be used for its intended purpose.
As a result, 80 engines, night vision devices and other equipment were handed over to the military.
Investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police continue the investigation to expose the scheme for the acquisition of military property and identify persons involved in its implementation.
