There are 10 groups of police paramedics working in the area, who go to the rescue together with the emergency services and “ambulance” or on their own. The most intense work is now in Konstantinovka, where shelling has intensified and the number of casualties has increased. Paramedics have therefore become an essential support for doctors when emergency care needs to be provided simultaneously to many injured people.

Russia is hitting residential buildings, so it is civilians who suffer. Usually, paramedics make from 5 to 13 visits per day. As the situation worsens, the number of calls increases significantly. In the last week alone, police rescued 37 people.

Paramedics have established interaction with military units and hospitals. Therefore, the rescue process is as fast and coordinated as possible. Each group immediately arrives on the scene and operates according to a clear algorithm: it provides emergency care and transports it to the hospital, where the patient is already waiting.

Konstantinovka, Chasiv Yar — lately the Russians have been continuously shelling these cities with rockets and shells. Paramedics are constantly on their feet, day and night — calls come one after another. Many severe patients with damage to the arteries, vital organs.

The police also assisted one of the wounded foreign volunteers, whose bus was hit by an enemy shell. They also help those who are in a state of shock.

Law enforcement officers also work under shelling, because every minute is important to save lives. They save not only people, but also injured animals.

“There is adrenaline, but we know our business. Every day, in their free time, they honed their skills to help people. That time has come,” says the head of paramedics, head of the training center of the Donetsk police Oleksandr Savenko.

In general, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, paramedics of the Donetsk region police have provided medical assistance to more than 400 people.
