Police of Lviv region blocked the channel of illegal departure of evaders under the guise of carriers
An entrepreneur from the Carpathians, together with three conspirators, helped conscripted men to go abroad under the guise of carrier drivers. For a chance to escape to Europe, merchants took from 5000 to 7000 US dollars.
The organizer of the illegal business was a 47-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region, who is engaged in private transportation. To implement the illegal scheme, he attracted three more men. They entered false information about conscripted men into one of the information systems, posing them as drivers carrying out international transportation.
Then, on the basis of fake data, documents were produced for their departure abroad through the checkpoints of the State Border Service in Lviv region. Such services were estimated by enterprising men from 5000 to 7000 US dollars.
In order not to draw attention to their illegal activities, accomplices sought clients through acquaintances, and took money only from trusted persons, or asked evaders to leave funds in a pre-arranged place. Law enforcement officers documented the facts of illegal activities of accomplices and during the next transaction they exposed one of the defendants at the checkpoint “Shehyny” in Lviv region.
Operatives of internal security of the police and the State Border Service, with the physical support of the soldiers of the special unit KORD, together with the investigators of the Lviv region police conducted sanctioned searches of the defendants. During the measures, draft records, documentation, computer equipment and cash were found and confiscated.
Currently, the organizer of the illegal scheme and three of his accomplices have been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 (Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The vehicles used by the conspirators to cross the border were arrested.
For what has been committed, the defendants face from seven to nine years in prison. Procedural leadership is carried out by Lviv specialized prosecutor's office in the field of defense in the Western region.
