Police of Kyiv region seized psychotropic substances from members of drug group for UAH 36 million
The illegal “business” was organized by three residents of the Fastiv district. They set up a drug lab in the household of one of the group members, where they manufactured ecstasy and amphetamine. The finished products were sold by the participants in wholesale batches throughout the country, receiving more than 10 million hryvnias of profit every month.
The members of the drug group were exposed by the operatives of the Department for Combating Drug Crimes in the Kiev region of the DBN NP of Ukraine together with the investigators of the regional police department of the Kiev region under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office of the Kiev region.
It was established that a 25-year-old man organized the drug business. He involved two more residents of the Kyiv region, aged 25 and 34, in illegal activities. The leader equipped a drug lab in the outbuilding of one of the group members, where he made amphetamine and ecstasy pills. He ordered precursors via the Internet, and transferred the finished products to his accomplices, who were engaged in its packaging and marketing. Every month, the defendants produced about 30 kg of psychotropic substances, which were sold in bulk throughout the country using the postal service.
Law enforcement officers, with the strong support of the PPOP fighters, conducted searches of the places of residence of the defendants and in their cars. As a result, about 16 kg of amphetamine, 3 kg of “MDMA”, mephedrone, a machine for making ecstasy pills, laboratory equipment, electronic scales, packaging materials and mobile phones were seized.
The total value of seized banned substances at “black” market prices is about 36 million hryvnias.
In addition, the police identified three recipients of parcels with psychotropics who purchased the “goods” for further sale. The extracted material evidence is directed to the conduct of relevant expert studies.
According to this fact, the investigators are investigating the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues in large quantities) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Further procedural decisions, in particular notifying the defendants of suspicion and choosing a precautionary measure, will be made after the results of the examinations are received. For what has been committed, offenders are threatened with up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
