Police officers of Chernivtsi region have exposed a criminal group in the sale of amphetamine and its precursors
The total amount of the seized is 2.5 million hryvnias.
Operatives of the Directorate of Strategic Investigations in the Chernivtsi region, together with regional police investigators and SBU employees in the region, established that a 28-year-old resident of Chernivtsi was repeatedly convicted of organizing illegal activities.
The organizer attracted three local residents to the “business”. Their tasks included the manufacture, packaging and subsequent marketing of amphetamine and the precursor phenylnitropropene. The drug was sold only to verified persons who were in the circle of regular customers. This approach allowed the defendants to avoid the dissemination of information about their activities. The clients included dependents from places of restriction of liberty.
On November 17, operatives with the involvement of special officers of the KORD conducted six authorized searches. During the measures, 3 kilograms of the phenylnitropropene precursor, 300 grams of amphetamine, 50 kilograms and 184 liters of other precursors were recovered. The cost of substances at the prices of the “black” market is 800 thousand hryvnias. Drug packaging equipment, electronic media and four foreign-brand cars were also seized.
The organizer was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and declared a suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 311 (illegal production, manufacture, purchase, storage, transportation or shipment of precursors) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to eight years with confiscation of property. The court chose a precautionary measure in the form of detention with the right to make a bail of UAH 200,000. Decisions regarding the other defendants will be made in the course of the investigation.
