Half a ton of amber worth almost seven million hryvnias was found by police in the garage of a resident of Varasky district
In order to comply with the court decision, investigators and criminal investigation officers of the police department No. 1 of the Varas RVP under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office yesterday, May 11, conducted an authorized search on the territory of the farm of a 34-year-old resident of the village of Volodymyrets, Rivne region.
Investigative actions were carried out in the framework of criminal proceedings on the fact of illegal extraction of amber in the territory of Varas district in February this year.
During a search of the farm of a 34-year-old man, police officers found in the garage room 20 bags filled with large-fraction amber stones weighing 455 kilograms.
One of the stones weighed 1 kg 200 gr. Its value can reach 230 thousand hryvnias, and the amount withdrawn in total is almost seven million UAH.
In the framework of criminal proceedings on the grounds of the crime provided for in Part 1 of Art. 240-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, investigators of WP No. 1 (village Volodymyrets) sent to the court a petition for the imposition of the seized arrest.
The removed stones will be sent for hematological examination, according to the results of which an appropriate procedural decision will be made.
The pre-trial investigation continues. The police establish all the circumstances of the criminal offense.
