The sweat of the artillery protects the blood of the infantry — Vadim Moskalenko, Major, Brigade “Chervona Kalina”
Major Vadim Moskalenko, commander of the brigade artillery group of the assault brigade of the National Guard “Chervona Kalina” in an interview with the news channel “We - Ukraine” told about the mission of the cannon, the combat path of the unit and how the army and guards have changed since the beginning of the mass A major war with Russia.
Vadim is an experienced officer who since February 24 last year took part in fierce battles with the aggressor, in particular, he fought with his brothers and for the Kiev region. Then he was destined to take command of a unit of mobilized defenders. But despite such circumstances, the officer was able to quickly form a combat-capable military team. Only on the approaches to the capital they managed to destroy about 100 units of enemy equipment and a lot of enemy manpower.
“In the Kiev direction, we mainly worked on the enemy with SAU 2C1 “Carnation”. If you take the highway from Bucha to Makarov, all the equipment of the aggressor, which managed to destroy there, is the achievement of our unit. As well as around the nearest settlements — Kopylov, Buzova, etc. Then we gradually drove the enemy from there to Belarus. And artillery really often decides the course and fate of the battle. After all, it is not in vain that the sweat of artillery protects the blood of infantry,” says Vadim Moskalenko.
The Ukrainian artillery, according to the Major of the National Guard, differs from the Russian in its much higher jewelry work, in particular due to the fact that it has to work with a limited amount of ammunition. Therefore, before hitting the target of the enemy, our guns find out everything in as much detail as possible, calculate the most accurate coordinates of the targets, and only then decide to open fire.
“The guys at the front see this diligence and accuracy of the artillerymen working behind their backs, and appreciate very much our help and fire cover, which saves so many lives of Ukrainian servicemen,” summarizes the commander of the brigade artillery group.
