SNSS pyrotechnics daily defuse enemy munitions on the ground and in the water
In particular, in Chernihiv region, a mechanized demining machine was used to clear the territories from ammunition, and in Mykolaiv region, divers sappers of the State Emergency Service inspected almost 20 hectares of water area, seized and destroyed 79 munitions.
For almost a year and a half, the SNS sappers have been clearing the land of Chernihiv region of a variety of ammunition: cluster elements, anti-personnel, anti-tank mines, shells, remnants of bombs and missiles released by the enemy from all types of weapons available in the arsenal.
So, to demine all areas, pyrotechnic units go meter by meter, carefully examining every piece of land. However, large areas of land remain potentially dangerous.
Specialized calculation with DOK-ING MV-4 mechanized demining machine was sent to the assistance of Chernihiv sappers from the Interregional Rapid Response Center of the State Emergency Service. This remote control machine will significantly speed up the demining processes, and most importantly - protect the life of pyrotechnics.
In total, on the territory of Chernihiv region, sappers have already detected more than 52 thousand units of ammunition, almost 40 thousand hectares of land have been surveyed, of which more than 37 thousand hectares of agricultural land.
Also, among all the territories contaminated with ammunition, the water areas of the Nikolaev area deserve special attention. Their survey and demining has a number of differences from terrestrial.
The work is complicated by:
- underwater, which can carry ammunition from one site to another;
- poor visibility due to silt;
- the complexity and danger of transporting detected explosive objects to land, etc.
Every day, divers sappers of the State Emergency Service of the Nikolaev area professionally cope with these challenges. So, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, divers have been involved 55 times to perform assigned tasks, surveyed 18.73 hectares of underwater water, seized and destroyed 79 multi-caliber ammunition.
However, the areas already surveyed, after the demolition of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant by the occupiers, were in the flood zone and are now considered potentially dangerous again. After all, water could “bring” a significant number of explosive objects. So work on the survey of the water area continues.
