Fire engineers of the State Emergency Service carry out work on demining cemeteries in de-occupied settlements
The units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine continue to work on the demining of the deoccupied territories of Mykolaiv region and settlements where active hostilities took place — they examined the cemetery on the eve of the memorial days.
After the de-occupation of the settlements of Nikolaev and Bashtansky district, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine work daily in the area of responsibility. Survey and devalue fields, areas along power lines, residential neighborhoods, etc.
On the eve of the memorial days, there was an urgent need to inspect the cemeteries, because even despite prohibitions and warnings, people may intend to go to the graves of their relatives. But we must tell and remind of the danger. From the experience of pyrotechnic calculations, we can say with confidence that where the enemy was, everything was mined, because for the Russians there is no difference whether it is private households, open areas, fields for sowing or cemeteries.
The most common are anti-personnel and anti-transport mines, but also many other explosive objects that pose a threat to human life.
It should be emphasized that high vegetation, as well as the presence of a significant number of metal structures in cemeteries, make it impossible to use metal detectors and make it difficult to conduct surveys using standard methods. As a result, it is impossible to guarantee the 100% absence of explosive objects in the surveyed areas.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine once again appeals to citizens! If your region is heavily clogged with various kinds of ammunition - always remember the rules of mine safety, follow them! During memorial days - do not visit cemeteries in potentially dangerous areas.
