Teenager who caused fatal accident in Lutsk was taken into custody
The guy was notified of suspicion under two more articles — Part 2 of Art. 187 (Robbery), part 2 of Art. 289 (Illegal possession of a vehicle) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Recall that the car accident happened on December 12, 2021 on Sobornosti Avenue in Lutsk. Fleeing from the patrol crew and failing to comply with the legal requirements of the police to stop, the driver of the Renault Megane ran a red light and drove into people crossing the road at a regulated pedestrian crossing. After that, he collided with a tree and a road sign at the intersection with Chornovola Street. After the collision, the underage driver and two passengers tried to flee the scene, but they were detained by police officers and citizens.
As a result of the car accident, six people were injured: four of them were released home after medical assistance, a 39-year-old luchanka was hospitalized in serious condition, who later died in a medical institution, and a 5-year-old boy was also injured.
Then the teenager who caused the accident was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, he was declared a suspect under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and chose a preventive measure — house arrest.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the suspect was involved even before the robbery: in November last year, he and his accomplices attacked the gunman and seized his phone.
Also, the teenager illegally took possession of the vehicle of his stepfather, on which he committed a traffic accident.
Accordingly, he was declared under Part 2 of Art. 187 (Robbery committed by a previous conspiracy by a group of persons), part 2 of Art. 289 (Illegal possession of a vehicle, committed repeatedly) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Today, the Lutsk City District Court of the Volyn region changed the suspect's preventive measure to detention. For his actions, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
