Preparing for the departure to the front of volunteers of the assault brigade “Spartan”
The exercise involves mobilized citizens, contract soldiers and volunteers who arrived under the “Guard of Offensive” program.
“Preparation takes place in three stages. The first is general military training, which includes fire, engineering training, as well as tactical medicine and topography. The second stage is the training of specialists: snipers, machine gunners, grenade launchers and crews of BTRs. The third stage is a collective training, during which the performance of tasks is practiced as part of detachments, platoons, companies and battalions. Preparation lasts at least six weeks,” said Artem Zinoviev.
According to a National Guard instructor with the callsign Alex, today the servicemen worked at several training points.
“During the training, the material part of the weapon, methods of determining the distance to the target, the basic rules of shooting, throwing a hand grenade and the algorithm for providing medical care were studied. In addition, as part of the training, servicemen practiced combat shooting skills as part of units using armored vehicles. We try to convey to the volunteers our experience, which we gained during the fighting in 2014-2015,” the instructor noted.
The volunteer with the nickname “Pioneer” joined the Spartan assault unit in mid-February this year. The 50-year-old said that he had repeatedly come to the CCP, but was refused because his military specialty was not needed at that time.
“Thanks to the Offensive Guard campaign, I was able to defend the country. I have military experience, so I am currently the commander of the rifle division. Now we are mastering the skills of handling weapons,” the soldier said.
He also added that the main motivation of all volunteers is the same — the protection of Ukraine from Russian invaders.
