Checking the readiness of the passport: what to do if you did not have time to pick up the document on time
Citizens who have been forced to leave abroad due to active hostilities and have lost the opportunity to receive already produced documents in the DMS units and in the citizen service centers “Passport Service”, have the opportunity to obtain these documents.
Currently, the issue of how citizens who issued foreign or ID-card passports in one region had the opportunity to receive ready-made documents directly at the place of actual stay in another region of Ukraine or abroad has been settled.
Currently, there is a mechanism for sending passports from one territorial unit of the migration service to any in another region of Ukraine, as well as through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to foreign diplomatic institutions and representative offices of the Citizen Service Center “Passport Service” located abroad.
To obtain a passport document abroad, you should contact the foreign diplomatic institution of Ukraine with an application for obtaining a foreign passport or internal passport in the form of an ID-card in the country of residence. The application should be addressed to the territorial unit of the State Tax Service in Ukraine in which this document was drawn up. The receipt of the document delivered to the diplomatic institution is carried out only under the condition of the personal presence of the applicant or legal representative (for children under 16 years of age). Delivery of the document to the institution is carried out by means of diplomatic mail and is from 3 months.
Passports and ID-cards issued in the “Passport Service” in Europe will be stored there for 3 months. After the end of this period, they will be in the relevant DMS unit on the territory of Ukraine. For the duration of the martial law, the executed documents are stored in the DMS for an unlimited period.
