Conversion of vehicles for people with disabilities: what you need to know
In the “Driving Schools for Persons with Disabilities” future drivers acquire practical skills in driving a car with manual control. Today, an urgent issue is the re-equipment of vehicles for people with disabilities.
The Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 607 provides services for approving the conversion of vehicles. This service can be used by driver training organisations and citizens who wish to increase their mobility.
Re-equipment of the vehicle is carried out in several stages. To do this, you need:
- contact the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or State Enterprise DerzhAvtoTransNdiProject with a package of documents;
- convert the vehicle independently or in a competent business entity;
- obtain a certificate of conformity from the authorized certification body of the Ministry of Infrastructure;
- re-register the converted vehicle in the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Important - to apply for the conversion of a vehicle, the car owner does not have to personally contact the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It can be sent by mail or transferred through an authorized representative on the basis of a power of attorney in any form. It clearly indicates the authority of the representative to submit or receive documents, make payment for the cost of the service, etc.

The results of the service can be obtained during a personal visit to the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and by mail to the specified address. The cost of the service is currently - 134.6 UAH (together with letterhead products). The deadline for submission does not exceed 10 working days from the date of registration of the application for approval of conversion.

The aim of the project is to create an effective and comfortable system of adaptation of persons with disabilities to driving vehicles, taking into account their capabilities and needs.
