The memory of the heroes must remain, - Denis Monastyrsky
This was emphasized by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine during the presentation of the project “Heroes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs” and the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory.
Denis Monastyrsky recalled that every day of the war, which lasts the seventh month, takes the lives of our heroes. At the same time, events develop so quickly that over time the memory of what happened a day, a week, a month ago is lost. Therefore, the team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs created a project about heroes who worked all the time to restore territories or ensure order in the liberated territories and those bordering the combat zone.
“On the site, in the section “Heroes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs”, you can get acquainted with the stories of our policemen, rescuers, border guards, national guards, etc. Also, together with the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, we are starting to work together and transfer the materials that we have accumulated during the 200 days of the war and will continue to accumulate, because this is the property of the entire Ukrainian people. Of course, there will still be memorials, museums and many memorials in memory of our heroes, but for this we must record every moment of their lives, actions, thoughts, which is actually valuable. The memory of these heroes should remain,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized.
According to the Acting Chairman of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Maxim Yarmystoy, the main goal of the institute is to preserve and restore the national memory of the Ukrainian people. During the war period, workers are engaged in the accumulation and preservation of stories, make an archive.
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs has done a great job, so on the platform “Archive of Oral Stories” we are opening a separate section where all these stories will be hosted. Now more than 1600 materials are stored there and access to them is temporarily suspended — this is done for the safety of persons giving evidence. When there is an opportunity, we will immediately open this platform. However, this is not only the opening of the section and the preservation of the stories of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but also the preservation of memory for future generations, historians who will evaluate and analyze these materials, so that in the future no one could distort the history,” Maksym Yarmystyi added.
In confirmation of the words, the participants of the meeting signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
