Wanted 25 people for almost UAH 3 million: a fraudster for “selling” drones and cars for the Armed Forces will appear before the court
A 36-year-old man will appear before the court for “selling” drones and cars for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Cyberpolice of Dnipropetrovsk region exposed a resident of Kryvyi Rih, who posted fake ads on well-known commercial Internet sites about the sale of drones and cars with delivery from abroad at discounted prices.
To place an order, the man persuaded customers to make a subscription to the accounts controlled by him. After receiving the money, the scammer did not fulfill his obligations and stopped getting in touch.
In this way, the man searched 25 residents of different regions of Ukraine, in particular military and volunteers who ordered goods for the needs of the Armed Forces.
The total amount of damage is almost 3 million hryvnias. In September this year, law enforcement officers conducted three sanctioned searches in the residential premises of the intruder. Mobile phones, SIM cards, computer equipment, electronic storage, bank cards, draft records and cash were removed.
Investigators informed the defendant about the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers completed a pre-trial investigation, the indictment was sent to the court for consideration of the case on the merits. The defendant faces up to five years in prison.
