More than 100 people who collected funds to help the Armed Forces were searched: in the Dnipropetrovsk region police exposed a group of intruders
According to preliminary estimates, the total amount of damage caused to the victim may be more than 2 million hryvnias.
According to the police, four residents of the Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions are involved in the illegal activity. On social networks, they searched for announcements about raising money for the Armed Forces and treating wounded fighters. Then they called the phone numbers received during communication in the messenger. Using fake accounts in social networks, the defendants posed as employees of a payment organization and offered to receive a money transfer from Poland. Under the guise of converting zlotys into hryvnias, offenders offered a certain algorithm of actions, received personal and bank data of citizens, and then appropriated money from the victims' accounts.
The criminal activities of the defendants were exposed by the employees of the Kamensky RUP together with the Criminal Investigation Department, Criminal Analysis and the Department of Countering Cybercrimes in the Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural guidance of the Kamensk District Prosecutor's Office.
At the places of residence and in the cars of intruders, law enforcement officers conducted searches. Computer equipment, mobile phones, bank cards, “rough” records, as well as four cars were seized.
The defendants were informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 190 (fraud), Part 4 of Art. 185 (theft), Part 1, 2 of Article 361 (unauthorized interference in the work of information (automated), electronic communication, information and communication systems, electronic communication networks) of the Criminal Code KSU of Ukraine.
Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention for them is being resolved.
