Police lieutenant colonel, commander of the Tsunami assault regiment Alexander Gostishchev died on March 15 in Odessa. Then the Russian army with rockets killed 21 people, 70 were wounded.

On March 4, 2024, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine recorded an interview with the fighter. It turned out to be the last in his life.

Oleksandr Gostishchev told about himself and his own battle path. The man received the nickname “Slavutich” back in 2014, when he voluntarily went to the front:

“This was the general call of our unit, which entered the city of Ilovaisk, came out of the surroundings. Under this call, our unit fought.”

After passing the Ilovai boiler, he joined the ranks of the National Police of Ukraine. Since 2019, he headed the patrol police of the Odessa region. In 2021, he became deputy chief of police of the Odessa region, and after a full-scale invasion - commander of the Tsunami Regiment. The unit took part in fierce fighting in the eastern and southern directions.

“The hardest thing is in the Bakhmut direction. There was heavy fighting from the very beginning, when the units were not yet under fire, many of the guys had no combat experience at all. Let's say so - we broke into very active hostilities in Klishchivka with difficult stages. There were casualties, but the unit rallied. Everyone got up in one position and started working and working further,” the commander said.

Alexander Gostishchev took part in the liberation of Kherson region. After the de-occupation, at the entrance to Kherson, the President of Ukraine awarded the Police Order of Bohdan Khmelnitsky III degree.

In the interview, Oleksandr Gostishchev also spoke about family, motivation and desire to work, despite fear.

“Yes, it's scary, but the team - we find work for absolutely everyone - the main desire of a person to learn and the desire to destroy the enemy. In every shot of a gun, in every mine, behind the wheel of combat vehicles - everywhere the fury of people turns into weapons. Each work gives us a step forward and it inspires,” Alexander Gostishchev, commander of the Tsunami assault regiment, summed up in his last interview.
