Operation “Excise”: the smuggling channel for the movement of excise tax stamps was eliminated in Odessa
In the Black Sea port, during the inspection of the cargo, almost 5 million excise tax stamps with signs of forgery for various types of excisable products were seized.
Currently, special operation “Excise” continues in Ukraine, within the framework of which measures are being taken to systematically combat organized crime, timely detection and termination of offenses related to the illegal circulation of excise group of goods.
Thus, the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Odessa region of the National Police received information about the international illegal channel of importation of counterfeit excise stamps into the territory of Ukraine. There was also information about the probable date of arrival of the cargo from Turkey, in which the excise stamps are hidden.
Yesterday, February 3, a truck with clothes and goods for economic purposes arrived at the customs post “Chernomorsk-Port”. During its inspection in the body of the car, law enforcement officers found 20 boxes, which contained almost 5 million counterfeit excise stamps. Namely: a million Ukrainian excise tax stamps for alcoholic beverages and the same number of foreign excise tax stamps, as well as more than 2.8 million for tobacco products. In addition, 3,400 packs of tobacco products without excise tax stamps of Ukraine were seized.
At present, organizers and persons who have established an international illegal channel for the movement of excise tax stamps to the territory of Ukraine are established.
The liquidation measures were carried out jointly with the employees of the operational unit 26 of the Border Detachment of the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the Odessa Customs of the State Customs Service, the investigative department of the GUNP in the Odessa region and the Odessa regional prosecutor's office.
