Operation “West-2023”: 15 people, an organizer and two assistants were detained in Bukovina for attempting to violate the border
Over the weekend, within the framework of the joint special border operation “West-2023”, border guards stopped 12 cases of border violations, detained 15 Ukrainian citizens who tried to enter Moldova and Romania outside the checkpoints.
Yesterday afternoon, the officers of the operational units of the Chernivtsi detachment together with the border police of the “Gvizdivtsi” branch near the Ukrainian-Moldovan border stopped the car. In the cabin of the car there were four people of conscription age with documents. The three men turned out to be locals who tried to organize an illegal border crossing to Moldova for a resident of the city of Novodnistrovsk.
In addition, during the weekend, border guards of the departments of “Kelmentsy”, “Krasnoilsk”, “Selyatyn” and “Shibeni” in 11 cases detained another 14 offenders who illegally tried to cross the state line. These were residents of Donetsk, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions.
All offenders were brought to border units for prosecution under Article 204-1 of the Code of Criminal Procedure “Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine”.
In relation to the organizer and the guides, a notice was sent to the National Police on the detection of signs of a criminal offense under Art. 332 of the Criminal Code “Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine. The sanction of this article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a period of 7 to 9 years.
