Online earnings as a type of fraud: the police warn of a new type of scam
In social networks and telephone messengers (Viber, Telegram, WhatsApp, etc.), the message about online earnings is distributed. Citizens are promised income for primitive work in the network.
The policemen in turn remind them that these are fraudsters. In the last week alone, almost thirty people turned to law enforcement, who lost their own funds under such a scheme of scammers.
Messages with an offer to earn money on the Internet mostly come from unknown numbers and with a suspicious code (+1, +2, etc.). They are designed for those who are looking for easy money. Scammers offer a lot of income for writing comments on social networks, spreading messages on pages, watching videos in streaming, booking hotel rooms, and more.
Scammers immediately ask for bank card details and send money for seemingly the first tasks completed. For the most part, it is a small amount of 100 — 200 hryvnia.
But in this way, fraudsters get bank data and immediately enter into trust with the citizen. Soon they offer to quickly double earnings, and for this they are already asked to put a deposit, which seems to double in a day.
Trustful residents send considerable savings. Thus, one of the applicants, a 66-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk, to whom an unknown man offered in this way to receive additional income on the Internet, sent fraudsters more than 130 thousand hryvnias. As soon as the money enters the account of the attackers, they stop contact with the victims, block them.
Be careful, do not transfer money to unknown accounts and under no circumstances sponsor scammers. Take care of your financial security and take care of your savings!
